The Northern Lights indica is cherished for its crystal coated buds, fast flowering time and ease of growth. It is a straight descendant of Afghani and Thai; two legendary land race strains. The Northern Lights indica is 90% indica and 10% sativa. THC generally ranges between 15% and 22%. Northern Lights has given rise to famous hybrids like Super Silver Haze. A short flowering time of 45-50 days makes NL a popular choice among growers.
Northern Lights Bud
Northern Lights bud has a sweet and spicy aroma. Appearance wise, northern lights buds are generally dense, dark olive in color and covered with orange pistils. NL also has a high calyx to leaf ratio so she is very easy to trim.

Northern Lights Grow
The Northern lights indica is easy to grow and does well between 65 and 75 degrees. She is dark green in color and covered with broad fingered leaves. For most indoor growers, Northern Lights rarely stands over 4 feet tall and she performs well in a Sea of Green (SOG). For indoor lighting, she requires at least 2,500 lumens per square foot and can yield between 3 to 6 ounces per square foot. NL also grows like a champion outdoors with high yields and great resistances to mold and mildew. For outdoor growing, plan on harvesting around October 1st. If you are starting an outdoor NL clone grow, I would advise that you start in mid June to maximize your summer grow. If you start any earlier, you run the risk of flowering prematurely because there aren’t enough hours of sun light in the day to maintain vegetative growth.
In my opinion, Northern Lights requires more nutrients than other varieties. This is especially true when applying a nitrogen fertilizer. In fact, NL can tolerate higher nitrogen levels throughout the entire grow when compared to other cannabis strains. This is why I recommend using a fertilizer like Tiger Bloom that has a small amount of nitrogen during flower.
Northern Lights Kush
The Northern Lights Kush is a cross between NL and Sweet Mendo Kush. This mostly indica variety is also known as a fast grower with an indoor flower time around 53 days. Similarly, she grows great outdoors because she is resistant against mildew and has large yields of 160 grams or more per plant.
