ACDC Strain

ACDC Strain

The ACDC strain is one of my all time favorites. ACDC is a CBD rich, sativa dominant phenotype of the strain Cannatonic. The ACDC strain has a CBD/THC ratio around 20 to 1; meaning it has very little active THC (usually less than 1 percent) and induces no psychoactive effects (no high). It also has between 16% and 24% CBD!

ACDC Effects

If you are looking for a strain that contains a lot of CBD and very little THC, ACDC is the strain for you! ACDC provides strong analgesic abilities without psychoactive influence. Therefore this clear headed strain is great for day and night time use. It also works great for treating chronic pain and sometimes helps with migraines. In my opinion, ACDC has a euphoric impact on the body that makes you feel focused, happy, calm and at ease. Furthermore, ACDC is great against anxiety because of its low THC content. ACDC doesn’t have very many negatives in my opinion. However, it can cause dry mouth and dry eyes.

Growing ACDC

Growers can expect a busy plant with thin feathery leaves. Buds are tight, but fluffy and covered with orange hairs. In my opinion, she looks and grows like a skunk variety with big colas. When growing ACDC, I recommend using a trellis net to support her large buds from falling over. ACDC will not be the largest plant in your garden. As with almost any CBD strain, you can harvest outdoors as early as you feel comfortable. Growers should expect longer flower times in colder conditions.

How to Grow ACDC Outdoors in Soil

I recommend starting your ACDC grow in mid June. Mid June is the best time to grow because you don’t need any additional lighting to sustain vegetative growth. Plant your ACDC plant in area that receives as much sunlight as possible. Plan on harvesting around October 1st.

If you would like to maximize your harvest, use a 65 gallon pot and premium organic soil. This combo can produce between 2 and 4 pounds of high grade cannabis when done correctly! If you don’t need that much bud or just don’t have the room for that type of plant, you can always use a smaller pot within the same time frame. Try to use at least a 30 gallon pot for a June to October grow. Any pot bigger than 65 gallons for a June to October grow is overkill in my opinion.

Total Costs for one 65 Gallon Pot Setup:

The total startup costs for a premium 65 gallon setup is around $125! The organic soil is the most important part and each 1.5cu/ft bag should run between $13 and $18 when purchased locally. Cheap soil is a waste of time and money. Don’t bother!

  1. Thank you for posting about AC/DC. I am an older lady with arthritis. I have high hopes for this medicine. I am preparing for my first ever small backyard grow in central west Michigan. I am curious about when to harvest. Could you explain why it is ok to harvest the high cbd, low thc strains early? Would the same be true of the other strains I will be trying to grow: Stephen Hawking Kush and Hawaiian Dream cbd?

Weather can be iffy here in late September. Should I harvest before any frost at all?

Also, I plan to plant my seeds indoor next week. Should I also wait til mid June to set them outside? Will it be best for me to start them indoors with a grow light? Thanx so much. Love your blog.

  2. Do you have any ACDC clones available for purchase? I live in Ramona and make salves and tinctures. I am looking for high CBD and mid TCH varietals. 🙂 Thank you!

  3. This strain has changed my life. I’m an athlete and as I’ve gotten older the abuse that I’ve put my body through has taken its toll. Along with continued physical therapy/training, and eating clean, taking my homegrown ACDC tincture keeps my body feeling up to the physical challenges I put it through every day. I use ACDC as a pre-workout suppliment. It’s kinda like taking 2 Aleve but without the nasty liver and stomach destroying side effects. I can take this during the work day and not be high at all but still feel the beneficial effects, something that I’ve never felt with buying CBD tinctures on the internet. The growing advice above is dead on.
