Outdoor Cannabis Flowering in June
Why is my outdoor cannabis flowering in June? Shouldn’t it flower in September or October?
Understanding the amount of sun light you receive is very important for timing a sucessful summer harvest. In Southern California, most experienced gardeners place clones outdoors in June. I usually recommend waiting until mid June just to play it safe. Seeds on the other hand can be planted much earlier because of the time needed to mature. Ideally, seeds should be planted between April and May to maximize your summer grow. If your plant has mature buds in May, June or July then you started too early.
What should I do if my plants have mature Buds in June?
Harvest as soon as your buds are ripe and start a new grow! Actually, starting a new outdoor clone crop in June is perfect timing. This is because placing clones outdoors in June requires no supplemental lighting to sustain vegetative growth. Your new grow season will most likely be June through October.
Outdoor Cannabis Flowering in July
Why is my outdoor cannabis flowering in July?
For outdoor cannabis flowering in July, we need to be able to identify which stage of flowering our plant is in. In other words, as your plant develops and matures, take note when small flowers begin to form. This is when flowering has commenced. For a lot of strains, this stage will occur at the end of July. However, if you notice bud formation in April, May or June, then there is a good chance you will harvest your plant in July. Starting a new grow in July is almost as good as starting in June.
When is the best time to start my summer grow in California without using any supplemental lighting?
If you are trying to maximize your outdoor grow and cultivate the largest plant possible, then I would suggest starting in mid June. This allows your plant to grow for 4 months without any lights! Growing for this amount of time is no easy feat, but having a solid plan is essential for a bountiful harvest.
Outdoor Cannabis Checklist:
You don’t need much to have a successful summer grow. Here is a simple checklist I created with products I use regularly. I would describe this list as the short list because it is pretty basic, but it definitely will set you up for success.
- 30 gallon pot
- Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil
- Hose water filter
- Fish Emulsion 5-1-1
- Bat Guano aka Super Bloom
- BT for Caterpillars

I am thankful for the information i just read..
Years ago I created a strain that has the following strains included in it. Avalon (by Next Generation), Hash Plant, Hogs Breath and Atomic Northern Lights (Indica dominant!). When started from seed in March the plants flower and finish by fireworks on July 4th. They are basically autoflowering, but without the shitty ruderalis genes in them. Nice to be able to puff sugary buds so early in the year!
My outdoor seeds that I planted outside in May are taking off giving hairs by now being late June. I am guessing I am on the right track.
